Bread and Butter Pickles

 

There is nothing like the succulent taste of crispy bread and butter pickles. Below I have included my favorite recipe for bread and butter pickles. I make these every year and they always come out just great.

Here are the ingredients for making bread and butter pickles:

  1. six sliced cucumbers
  2. 3 cups distilled white vinegar
  3. 1 cup sugar
  4. 1 teaspoon of mustard seed
  5. six small onions sliced
  6. ¾ teaspoon ground turmeric
  7. 1/3 cup coarse salt
  8. 1 teaspoon celery seed

 

These are really easy to make so there aren’t too many directions. The first thing you’re going to want to do is combine the onions, mustard seed, celery seed, and turmeric in a large pan.

Now in a different pan combine the salt, vinegar, and sugar. Now bring to a boil and then pour the boiling mixture into your pan with your onion mixture.

Now add your cucumber slices and pack everything into sterile jars leaving ¼ inch space from the top of the lid. Make sure you refrigerate for two weeks before eating. Now all you have to do is enjoy the best bread and butter pickles you have ever tasted.
